Christmas Songs
In 2013 The UK Songwriting Contest announced a new entry category especially for Christmas Songs. Songwriters have always entered Christmas songs and carols in this competition but in the past these were always entered in the Open Category or in the Faith/Christian Category or other categories depending on the style of the music. For example the outstanding winning song "Bloody Good Christmas" (which went straight to number two in the Amazon download charts after the contest results were published) was entered in the Acoustic and Folk Category. We invite all songwriters to enter their Christmas Songs in the contest. The winning song will be featured on the Best of UKSC promo album along with the other category winners. The Winning Song and selected Finalists in this category will also feature on a special Christmas playlist that we will prepare and promote for Christmas. We have featured some videos of past entries below - but you don't need a video of your song to enter - just an MP3. These entries were all entered and judged as demo recordings and the videos were made later. |

Bloody Good Christmas by Jamie Hawkins
This Christmas song won the Acoustic Category in 2011 (this was before there was a special separate Christmas Songs Category). It was a favourite with top producer, musical director and UKSC judge Richard Niles who described it as "Bloody briliant! .... powerful, utterly original, articulate, heartfelt, emotional, very well constructed and superb in every way." The song generated so much interest through the contest that a video was made, the song was remixed, and it was released as a Christmas single. It went straight to number two in the Amazon download charts and received great reviews and an Amazon five star customer rating. This year in 2013 there is a new Christmas Song Category. You don't need a video of your song to enter - just upload the MP3. Or, if your song is already on a website, our judges will visit the site and listen there. |
Jingle Jangle Christmas, a fun rock and roll Christmas song by Amercian songwriter Rob Carridi, was joint winner of this category in 2013.
Christmas Bells by Wayne Jacobs This Christmas song was a Semi Finalist in The UK Songwriting Contest and it was originally entered as a demo recording in the Open Category, in the days before we had a specialist Christmas Songs Category. This year in 2013 there is a new Christmas Song Category. You don't need a video of your song to enter - just upload an MP3. Or, if your song is already on a website, our judges will visit the site and listen there. Christmas Day by Kris Wilkins
A demo recording of this Christmas song by Kris Wilkins achieved a Finalist position in the UK Songwriting Contest in the Christian / Faith Category back in 2005. At that time there was no Christmas Songs Category. This video to go with the song was created later by animator Jawaad Nazir and it can now be seen on the UK Songwriting Contest YouTube Channel. If you are a lyricist don't forget that you can also enter Christmas song lyrics in the Lyrics Only Category. |
